Each third grader was given a photograph of a flower. They used view finders to isolate an interesting area of the flower and then drew that area large enough to fill the entire paper. When satisfied with their drawing, they traced over the pencil lines with oil pastels and then shaded along those lines. To finish, they used watercolors to fill in the rest of their paper. They turned out really nice and they seemed to really enjoy the lesson. Here is a finished painting from one of the students These are of the hallway display As always, I have the full lesson if you are interested.
